Obama?s Florida Effort off to Slow Start?

Yesterday I wrote a post about how it?s all going to come down to Florida in 2012. I didn?t talk much about the fact that Obama has already spent quite a bit of time in the state, and forgot to mention the fact that the DNC chose a Florida Congresswoman as their national Chair.

No doubt, Democrats know full well they?ll have to fight for and win Florida if they?re to keep the White House. The state?s 29 electoral votes are key in what will be a huge fight over some 80 or so voters over all.

According to reports, energy and momentum for Obama isn?t yet there. In fact, his campaign is off to a terrible start.

The top level of the 2,200-seat concert hall at the Adrienne Arsht Center for Performing Arts was entirely empty, as were the seats along the side of the second and third levels.

?The expectation was 900,? a Democratic official said, and more than 980 tickets were sold.

Tickets for the Gen 44 event started at $44, the official said.

This might be a good sign. It?s still early, but if Obama can?t find 2,200 $44 donors he?s got a problem.
