Inside the MTV Movie Awards: Live Blog

The Hollywood Reporter ?was on the scene and inside the Gibson Ampitheatre at Universal CityWalk in Los Angeles for Sunday?s MTV Movie Awards. Here?s some of what you may not have seen during the broadcast.

5:15 p.m. Half an hour before the show gets under way, the bar areas are busy as people mingle and down their beverages before heading inside.

5:33 p.m. It's all in the CW family: Life Unexpected creator Liz Tigelaar arrives with her former lead and new Secret Circle star Britt Robertson as well as The Vampire Diaries executive producer Julie Plec, Nina Dobrev and Kayla Ewell. Robertson and Tigelaar were equally excited to see the other's new series -- Tigelaar recently started work on ABC's Once Upon a Time.

5:38 p.m. Green Lantern star Ryan Reynolds arrived into the chilly Gibson from several loud shrieks from fans. Camera phones were out in full force.

5:42 p.m. Sign of buzz for MTV's new Teen Wolf? Tyler Posey and Dylan O?Brien were escorted in two steps ahead of Harry Potter's Emma Watson, who was surrounded by handlers.

5:44 p.m. J.J. Abrams was low-key in his entrance into the theater minutes ahead of show time, arriving solo.

5:49 p.m. Kristen Stewart was just rushed through the massive crowd filing into their seats 10 minutes before the show is to start. No sign of Robert Pattinson or Taylor Lautner.

5:58 p.m. A random woman from the audience was selected to help rev up the crowd by singing ?Rapper's Delight? on the stage. Someone write that reality show pitch!

6:07 p.m. The opening video montage received a subdued reaction from inside the theater. Judging from the crowd's shrieks, the room is clearly Team Edward over Team Jacob. ? Host Jason Sudeikis does well with an opening monologue filled with digs at MTV, including remarks about the network?s lack of music videos and Teen Mom. But he wins over critics with what already feels like his 10th Twilight joke -- in which he mocks the love triangle decision in Breaking Dawn: "My heart says Jacob, but my wiener says Edward. ... My balls are indifferent."

6:16 p.m. The crowd's reaction to the new Super 8 trailer is flat. The sneak preview didn't shed much light on the mysterious plot -- nor did it offer a glimpse of the creature(s).

6: 18 p.m. Attendees inside are being encouraged to tweet from their seats using #atmovieawards. A smart move.

6: 20 p.m. During commercial breaks, musical highlights from previous MTV Movie Awards shows are being shown on the three large screens over the stage. Makes perfect sense for MTV to show music highlights at a movie event, no?

6:27 p.m. Jim Carrey's Mask-like green-screen suit ?with two dogs humping was almost as well-received as his intro to the Foo Fighters, who performed ?Walk? and had everyone up on their feet -- even if it was to escape the vibrations emanating from the bass-heavy track.

6:39 p.m. Aziz Ansari impresses the subdued auditorium when he comes out to present an award dressed as Jaden Smith from The Karate Kid. The best moment thus far is seeing the Parks and Recreation star pout before handing the best jaw-dropping trophy to Justin Bieber, whose surprise appearance was anything but. Ansari and fellow presenter Danny McBride were also the first two drop f-bombs during the show as they feigned disappointment that Smith ?bailed? on presenting with them.

6:46 p.m. Sudekis' bit with Bob the Boulder in a spoof mocking James Franco?s 127 Hours totally tanks inside. Good thing MTV had the Transformers cast to introduce the best fight award and Pattinson to accept it.

6:49 p.m. Less than an hour into the show, Twilight leads Harry Potter 2-1, with Pattinson collecting both prizes. ?He's one of three slam-dunks with the crowd inside; Justin Timberlake and -- shocker! -- Lautner being the other two.

7:04 p.m. Sudeikis gets in a killer shot at the Blake Lively photo scandal as he introduces her and Green Lantern co-star Ryan Reynolds, saying: "Someone we believe to be the real Blake Lively -- only she won't confirm it.? Meanwhile, Lively and Reynolds stick to the script when presenting the best kiss prize.

7:07 p.m. A bromance is born when Pattinson runs into the audience to plant a big smooch on Lautner after he and Stewart win for best kiss. It goes over well after Stewart and Pattinson attempted to bait viewers with yet another are-they-or-aren't-they moment.

7:13 p.m. Pattinson proves he?s both great and terrible with ad-libbing when he stumbles while introducing Reese Witherspoon. He later makes up for it when he jokes that he ?did f**k you,? referencing ?last year?s Water for Elephants, in which he played her lover. The Twihards ate it up.

7:25 p.m. The new Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 trailer is well-received, drawing a strong response after a very nervous Emma Watson introduces it. Watson hit the margarita line shortly afterward.

7:51 p.m. Crowd response after Pattinson, Stewart and Lautner unspooled the world premiere of the new trailer for Twilight: Breaking Dawn is the best of the night. Of the three trailers, Breaking Dawn was the clear favorite, thanks in no small part to the inclusion of Lautner's abs.

7:55 p.m. Gary Busey carefully makes his way to center stage in a huge ?hampster ball,? leaving many in the theater stumped. Even the eventual best movie winners from Twilight were baffled.

What did you think of the show?
