QUESTION:
setting up www.domain.com and domain.com with 1and1?
Ok so it's easy to do with godaddy.com, i go to the DNS manager for the domain and and a record so that www.domain.com and domain.com both go to my site. first time using 1and1 and i'm extremely confused as to how to do something so simple. any thoughts would be appreciated.
oh for reference, current www.domain.com works, domain.com gives a 400 bad request.-
ANSWER:
Just as an FYI, there's a "TTL" or "Time Till Live" attached to your DNS, that number is represented in seconds, and if that value of time hasn't passed since the changes were made, it's highly likely that you won't see the changes occur until it has passed. On the other hand, Name Servers only provide 'Searchable Data Records' about a website. the Dedicated Name Server (most likely the one that your ISP uses for your records) still has to read your web-site Name Server to get the updated information, which can take quite some time too.
If you're confident that you have forwarded A records for domain.com and www.domain.com to the same IP address, and it's still not working, then you should rest assured that it will work within time. (generally 48 hours)

QUESTION:
How do you set up a WordPress blog through DreamHost hosting?
So I bought my domain name from GoDaddy, created a blog on WordPress, then mapped the blog to the domain name using the Domain Manager on GoDaddy by setting the DNS settings. Then purchased hosting from DreamHost, and am having trouble setting everything up. I know I need to edit the DNS settings on GoDaddy, but I have been told I need obviously the 3 name servers from WordPress for mapping and the 3 name servers from DreamHost in my GoDaddy Domain Manager.
I also downloaded FileZilla, and put in my DreamHost server name, username, and password, but I don't see the WordPress information on the right of the program like I thought I would.
I want to install Thesis, and this is my first time ever doing anything like this, and really could use some help. Thank you for any help!
